Last week of school!!

Tonight is the night for free pizza courtesy of our hardworking PTO. If you turned in a purple form then you will be on our list. Pick up your pizza in front of the cafeteria from 4pm - 6pm. Just drive your car up and PTO will hand you a pizza as you are passing the cafeteria. Enjoy

Field Days are happening next week!  Please have your child wear closed toe shoes and bring a water bottle to the field.  Each class goes around to 11 different activity stations to have fun.                    Monday will be 1st & 4th grades from 8:30 - 10 and 2nd & 5th grades from 10:20 - 11:50.          Tuesday will be Pre K & kindergarten from 8:30 - 10 and 3rd grade from 11:15 - 12:45

Thursday, May 27 is 5th grade graduation - Drive through graduation for each class. Students come with their families during their time to get their diploma, lei and a gift. A1 from 8:30 - 9, A2 from 9 - 9:30 and O203 & O106 9:30 - 10:30

Substitute Educational Assistant ($14.79 per hour)

We are seeking substitute Educational Assistants (apply through the school) and full time Educational Assistants (apply through the Hawaiʻi DOE). A paraeducator (Educational Assistants) works under the supervision of teachers or other professional practitioners. An Educational Assistantʻs job varies depending on the needs of the students and school during a particular period. An educational assistant should be open and flexible to support the needs of the students and school. Their jobs are instructional in nature and they provide other direct services to children and youth and their families, including: 1:1 Tutoring 1:1 Behavioral Support Assist with classroom management Conduct parental involvement activities Provide instructional support services under the direct supervision of a highly qualified teacher or professional practitioner. Minimum requirements: Forty-eight semester credits of baccalaureate-level courses from a regionally accredited institution of higher education recognized by the Department. The 48 credits may be from various program or academic subject areas. In addition, 6 of the 48 credits must have been for math and English courses at the baccalaureate level. Or, An Associate in Arts (AA) or Science (AS) degree from a regionally accredited institution recognized by the Department. The credits earned for the degree must have been for courses that are baccalaureate level. Or, A certificate with a minimum score of 459 on the ParaPro Assessment provided by the Educational Testing Service. ParaPro Assessment The ParaPro Assessment is a computer-based assessment option for Educational Assistants (EA) and part-time Paraprofessional Tutors (PPT) to meet Department of Education minimum qualifications for employment. Substitute Teacher ($151.71-$178.42/day)
First priority will be given to candidates who've completed a State-Approved Teacher Education program which is a full time teacher-training program that includes student teaching in a Grade K-12 setting. Individuals with a bachelor's degree are also eligible and will need to complete a substitute teacher course at an adult education community school. *Hawai'i Department of Education does permit individuals to substitute teach without a bachelor's degree in hard to staff locations. Our school is not located in a hard to staff location.
