Make time for Reading over Spring Break!
         Students checked out print library books before break & they can also access eBooks via the Sora app or online at Soraapp.com.  (They need to know their 10 digit student ID.)  Mrs. Colte also purchased online resources for students to watch videos, listen to informational text and more.  Visit the library website at dkies.weebly.com and click on Online Resources to access these sites.  Our username is dkies & students know the password (hint: 9:30 am).

Fri. March 15        Super Eagle Assembly for pre K, kindergarten & 1st grade in the cafe at 8:30
                           Super Eagle lunch in pavilion for all Super Eagles - Bring your own lunch.  This is for students only (no room for parents) Treat provided by PTO in decorated area to celebrate students being Super Eagle
                           Kona Ice Truck will be on campus afterschool ( $3 + for shaved ice)
                           Yearbook Buddy Pictures. Gather your friend and for $1. per person take pic.

Writing and Art Contest -  Submit your original art or written work on the theme, "Dare to Dream" by Fri. April 12 at 4:30pm.  Rules: Entries may be stories, poems or artwork. Each entry must be the original work of a student currently in grades K through 12. Written work should be no longer than 350 words. Artwork should be no larger than 18" x 24". Each entry must have complete information printed on the BACK including students name, address, phone number, grade level, school name and teacher's name.  All entries become the property of Parents and Children Together.  Submission of an entry implies consent to have the work published. ·       Fri. March 15 Get a head start on St. Patrick’s Day celebrations this Friday evening at Mililani Shopping Center from 5pm - 7pm. Pick up a free shamrock necklace, listen to traditional Irish music by Celtic Waves, buy corned beef and cabbage from Foodland, and stop by the keiki craft table where children can make their own shamrocks for free.  East Side Courtyard across from Farmer’s Market, Mililani Shopping Center. 95-221 Kipapa Drive and 95-390 Kuahelani Ave., Mililani.  (808) 521-2611, mililanishoppingcenter.com 

Sat. March 16       Autism Learning seminar from 6:30pm - 8:30pm at the Manoa Public Library at 2716 Woodlawn Drive in Honolulu.  Part 1 is Improving sleep and behaviors. Part 2 is Gut Brain continuum in Autism -A next generation understanding of the intertwined biology of the human gut and neurologic systems.  First time attendees are welcome.  An Autism Journey Guide is yours to keep as a resource for your family.  This event is being offered at no charge but an RSVP is requested. www.tacanow.org/hawaii
Sat. March 16 .    Dungeons and Dragons at Mililani Public Library from 1;30 - 4pm for Free.  Aloha Adventurers Guild will teach participants the foundations of Dungeons and dragons. (808) 627-7470

·       March 17 Sunday afternoon, it's the official St. Patrick’s Day Parade! This 90-minute procession begins at Fort DeRussy Park in Waikīkī and ends at the bandstand at Kapiʻolani Park, featuring nearly 800 participants from the military, local schools, marching bands and community groups. Get to Waikīkī well ahead of noon—which is when the parade starts—to claim a portion of the sidewalk for your family. Bring picnic chairs and mats. March 22 .    Music and Movie Madness at Kalakaua Community Center for Free.  5:30pm music featuring Wheeler Middle School Band, Army Music Hawaii and 7pm movie 'Sing'.

March 23 .    Spring Fair - Country Store - Rummage Sale and ono kine plate lunch from 9am - 1pm at Wahiawa United Methodist Church on 1445 California Ave.

March 23 and 30   Buy tickets for Wahiawa Lions Club 23rd annual fundraiser breakfast at Longs Drugs and Tamura's.  Then on Sunday April 7 from 7am - 11am come to Ka'ala Elementary School cafeteria.  The morning promises a meal featuring local Petersons' Upland Farm scrambled eggs, smoked sausages, steamed rice, banana bread, Dole pineapple chunks and a beverage for only $6.00.  This is the Wahiawa Lions only fundraiser for the year and they thank you for your support. 

Wed. March 27 .    Career Expo 2019 from 9am - 3pm at Neal Blaisdell Center Exhibition Hall.  Business attire and bring your resume.  General admission is $3 & seniors, military and students get in for $1.


The third annual Onizuka Day of Exploration will be taking place on
April 27, 2019 from 9:00 to 3:00 at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall.
The Onizuka Day of Exploration offers more than 100 games, activities
and exhibits, both indoors and out. In addition, there will be STEM
workshops throughout the on a wide variety of topics including robotics, energy, volcanoes, earthquakes, first aid and emergency preparedness, and much more.
Advance registration for the workshops is required. The registration

There are limited seats in each workshop and each participant can
register for a maximum of 2 workshops. Please note that all youth who are in grade 6 and below MUST be accompanied by an adult who is registered for the same workshop.
A parent may accompany up to 2 youth, and den leaders or teachers may
accompany up to 5 youth. The youth and adult must all be registered for
the same workshop in the same time period.
To secure your workshop attendance, you must check in and get your entry ticket at the registration desk 45 minutes before the start of the first session you register for.
