PTO is accepting nominations for next year board positions  Consider joining to make our school a better place. Nominate yourself or a friend and turn in form no later than March 28 (today).

Our Blue Zones Wellness Ninjas invite students to create
a wellness poster or video by April 8.

What:  Students may make a poster or video on the theme:  "In Wahiawa, this is how I Move Naturally..."
         Poster: 8.5 x 11 paper, drawings outlined in black & colored
         Video: 2 minute maximum
                  email a url to the video to mcolte@inouye.k12.hi.us; be sure the video can be viewed by anyone with the link
When:  Monday, April 8 by 2:30 to the library or emailed to Mrs. Colte
         Each class should choose ONE video or poster winner.
         Winning entry must include student's name & room number on the back
Our school can submit one entry in the grades K-2 category & one entry in the grades 3-5 category.
Our school's Youth Wellness Ninjas (Ben, Amory & Orihanna) will serve as judges for our school to determine the winning entry in each category.
Winners will be announced at the Wahiawa Pineapple Festival, Sat. May 4

March 29          EFMP SPEDucation Blitz - Transition Plans workshop from 10am - noon.  EFMP is partnering with Hawaii Disability Rights Center to teach families how to be advocates for their EFM. Learn your rights and responsibilities during transition and how to prepare for future moves in schools as they grow. Sat. March 30 .    6th special abilities sensory-friendly family social and early Easter egg Hunt at Tiki's Family Fun Center.  The first 100 registered Special Needs Individuals (ages 2 - 30) pay $8. per person for 3 hours of unlimited play. Otherwise, price will be $14 per person for 3 hours of unlimited play. Parents are free if not playing - this is for special abilities families only from 9am - 12pm.  Easter Egg Hunt starts at 10am.  This is Hawaii's only themed indoor playground with laser tag, black light mini golf, games and cafe. March 30   Buy tickets for Wahiawa Lions Club 23rd annual fundraiser breakfast at Longs Drugs and Tamura's.  Then on Sunday April 7 from 7am - 11am come to Ka'ala Elementary School cafeteria.  The morning promises a meal featuring local Petersons' Upland Farm scrambled eggs, smoked sausages, steamed rice, banana bread, Dole pineapple chunks and a beverage for only $6.00.  This is the Wahiawa Lions only fundraiser for the year and they thank you for your support. 

March 30 .    32nd Annual Great Hawai'i Rubber Duckie Race at McCully Shopping Center from 9am - 4pm. Contact for cost, adoptmyrubberduckie.org.  United Cerebral Palsy Association of Hawai'i's famous rubber duckies take their 32nd annual dive in the waters of the Ala Wai Canal.  1960 Kapi'olani Blvd in Honolulu is where it starts. 

Sat. April 6   Eat the Street Pineapple Fest at Ka'ala Elementary School from 4pm - 9pm.  Lots of great food booths, vendors, entertainment and games sponsored by local schools.This event is a fundraiser for Leilehua complex STEM related activities.  

 WED, APRIL 24 & THURS, APRIL 25      2019 Virtual Military Spouse Symposium, hosted by the Department of Defense Spouse Education and Career Opportunities team. The third annual Onizuka Day of Exploration will be taking place on
April 27, 2019 from 9:00 to 3:00 at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall.
The Onizuka Day of Exploration offers more than 100 games, activities
and exhibits, both indoors and out. In addition, there will be STEM
workshops throughout the on a wide variety of topics including robotics, energy, volcanoes, earthquakes, first aid and emergency preparedness, and much more.

There are limited seats in each workshop and each participant can
register for a maximum of 2 workshops. Please note that all youth who are in grade 6 and below MUST be accompanied by an adult who is registered for the same workshop.
A parent may accompany up to 2 youth, and den leaders or teachers may
accompany up to 5 youth. The youth and adult must all be registered for
the same workshop in the same time period.
To secure your workshop attendance, you must check in and get your entry ticket at the registration desk 45 minutes before the start of the first session you register for.

Writing and Art Contest -  Submit your original art or written work on the theme, "Dare to Dream" by Fri. April 12 at 4:30pm.  Rules: Entries may be stories, poems or artwork. Each entry must be the original work of a student currently in grades K through 12. Written work should be no longer than 350 words. Artwork should be no larger than 18" x 24". Each entry must have complete information printed on the BACK including students name, address, phone number, grade level, school name and teacher's name.  All entries become the property of Parents and Children Together.  Submission of an entry implies consent to have the work published.
