Is there both a Turkey Trot and a Fun Run? Yes
15th Annual Turkey Trot is a canned food drive during the school day on Nov. 8. Each grade level comes to the O building field for half hour of moving to the music.

1st ever PTO Fun Run is Saturday Nov. 23 at 7am.  This is for all DKIES families and anyone in the military community. Donation of $12 gets you a original designed Fun Run T shirt to wear at the run / walk.  Payment is due by Nov. 8 to guarantee T shirt sizes.

Calling all Artists! Have you entered the Yearbook cover contest yet?  All entries due Nov. 8. 8 1/2 x 11 white paper vertical orientation. Theme is superhero (There's a superhero in all of us)  These words must appear on the cover "Daniel K. Inouye Elementary school"  "2019 - 2020"  ON THE BACK should be student name, room number, parent name and phone or email.  All entries can be seen and voted on at Big Draw family event Nov. 14

School Events

Spirit Week. Dress up each day to show your school spirit. The class with the overall highest participation percentage will receive a special prize!
All attire should adhere to school dress guidelines

Mon. Nov. 4        Super Hero Day -Dress as your favorite superhero, or create one of your own
                      Chaperone Training 8 - 8:30 in PCNC office in corner of main office.

Tues. Nov. 5        Pajama Day - Get comfy with your favorite jammies!
              Today through Nov. 12 eat at Papa Johns and send in your receipts to PTO attached to a flier to help raise funds for the school

Wed. Nov. 6        Wacky Wednesday -Crazy hair, mix-matched clothes...show us what your wacky looks like!

Thurs. Nov. 7       Make a Friend Day - Today is all about meeting someone new. Wear a letter on your shirt, partner up with other students and see what words you can spell together!

Fri. Nov. 8          Patriotic Day - It's time to deck yourself out in Red-White-and Blue!

Turkey Trot - donate canned food and walk or run or skip to the music for 30 minutes. Each grade level comes to the O building field in front of the school. Parents are welcome to join their child running, skipping or walking to the music, please sign in at the office first and make sure you bring picture id. 
Following is the list of times each grade level will be on the field.
Pre - K & K 8:45 - 9:15  1st Grade 9:15 - 9:45      2nd Grade 9:45 - 10:15
3rd Grade  10:15 - 10:45  5th Grade 10:45 - 11:15    4th Grade  11:15 - 11:45

Last Day to sign up for PTO Fun Run on Nov. 23. Just $12 for unique DKIES T shirt and a fun family friendly run or walk.  There are 2 options for distance: either 5K (approx. 2.5 miles) or 1 mile for little legs.

Thurs. Oct. 31 .    Mililani Shopping Center celebrates Halloween with Mummy's Night Out from 5pm - 7pm.  Features costume contests, trick or treating and activities. mililanishoppingcenter.com

Fri. Nov. 1  Art, Music and Fashion First Friday at HiSAM from 6pm - 9pm at the Hawai'i State Art Museum.  Admission is always free and open to the public.  photo booth and pop - up shops. Fashion Shos from 7pm - 8pm

·       Nov. 2 .    Day at Lake Wilson from 8am - 3pm for free. Food, entertainment, crafts and vendors. Welcome to Lake Wilson, one of the largest freshwater reservoirs in Hawaii. Explore this great natural resource in historic Wahiawa. Fishing demos and activities, plant seedling giveaways, country market, park golf, make and take projects. Enter a paper plane contest with chance at $100 for plane that goes the farthest.  state Department of Land and Natural Resources will also have fishing equipment for families who want to cast, but do know you will need to pay $8. for license to participate. lakewilsonday.com  830 Walker Ave. in Wahiawa. Sat. Nov. 2           Leeward Discovery Fair from 9am - 3pm for free -  Spend a day playing with giant bubbles, shatter a fresh flower, dig your hands into pans of slime, make crafts and more for free at this annual event. The more than 40 activities are sponsored by Leeward Community College and all educational ones are free, so bring a recyclable bag to tote around your arts and crafts and all the other items you will pick up. Be prepared to walk a ways from parking, it gets crowded quickly, but there is enough space (and lots of shade) so you won't feel too cramped. Bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to Family Programs Hawaiʻi. Nov. 2 & 3 .    Oh Baby! Family Expo at Blaisdell Center Exhibition Hall from 10am - 5pm. Hawai'is Largest Baby and kids expo with over 150 vendors. Play the best stem toys of 2019. Princess sing-a-long at noon. Baby crawling contest 2pm. General admission is $5.50 and children under 5 are free. ohbabyfamilyexpo.com

Nov. 2      Agricultural Awareness Day at UH Urban Garden Center from 8am - 11:30am at it's Pearl city location.  Arbor Day Tree Giveaway. Expect agricultural and environmental exhibits, plant sales and more.  call 808-453-6050
