PTO Bingo for Books event on February 1st. Doors open at 5:30 to eat spaghetti dinner. Bingo begins from 6pm-8pm in the cafeteria. $8 per person prepaid or $10 per person at the door (2 and under are FREE). Entry includes spaghetti dinner, drink, and a bingo card. Extra cards and popcorn are available for donation or BOXTOPS (10 BoxTop donation=1 Bingo card! Boxtops can also purchase popcorn and additional drinks. Bingo will be called by our very own Daniel K. parent and author Amira Shea! Please join us for some family fun and some new books!

Fri. Jan. 25            5th Grade Field Trip to Leilehua Complex Fitness Day


                 PTO General Membership Meeting in Q207 8am - 9am.  Yummy refreshments will be served. Everyone invited to hear the great things that PTO has planned for the rest of the year.  Vote on new members, see how fund raising has been going, get questions answered and much more.  PTO wants to know what the parents want at this school, so come and let your voice be heard.

Wed. Jan. 30         Wear your School T shirt every Wednesday to show your school spirit

Thurs. Jan. 31       Buddy Pics guaranteed to be in the yearbook after school by the cafeteria.  $1.00 per person in the picture.  So come with a friend or 2 and take your picture for the yearbook

Fri. Feb. 1             Leilehua Complex Basketball tournament for members of the team
                           PTO Books for Bingo family event from 5:30 - 8:00pm in the cafeteria.

Sat. Jan. 26 .    Drive Through Joes coffee outside the commissary gives percentage of your order to our school when you mention Daniel K Inouye Elementary. 8am - 1pm get your delicious coffee.

Sat. Jan. 26          Makana Kids Chinese New Year celebration for Free from noon - 4pm. West side of Oʻahu will begin celebrating Chinese New Year with family-friendly activities at Ka Makana Aliʻi (outdoor mall). Arrive at center court at noon for storytelling and a Chinese lion pole jumping demonstration. Then from 1 to 2 p.m., feed money to dancing lions as they visit stores at the mall. Sat. Jan. 26 .    Paint & Sip at Schofield Barracks Tropics from 7pm - 9pm. $35. per person includes 1 wine or tropical drink. Sat. Jan. 26 .    Cherry Blossom Tour of Wahiawa at 9 and 11 and 1pm. Register by Jan. 18.  Sakura Safari 2019 - promises a 90 minute trolley ride around Wahiawa that will highlight sakura trees throughout the community to see cherry blossoms in full bloom. Sat. Feb. 9 .    Keiki Great Aloha Run especially for 5 - 12 year olds and their 'ohana. Run starts at 7:30am at Ala Moana Beach Park. Join the 1 mile run along the beach road within the park.  Registration is $20 and make sure to designate our school name on your entry form and our PE department gets $15. each participant (as long as 10 people participate). Registration is online only at www.greataloharun.com and deadline is Jan. 31.


Feb. 16 and Feb. 23  Science Symposium 4 girls at Sacred Hearts Academy.  Featuring workshops that introduce girls to the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.  Both events are free. But you must pre-register at sacredhearts.org/symposium or call 808-734-5058 ext. 232

Drawing Contest for kids

Mayor's Memorial Day "Sew a Lei for Memorial Day" Poster Contest. All Hawai'i school students are invited to enter this contest which runs until Feb. 26.  Posters must be entitled "Sew a Lei for Memorial Day" and will depict lei-making activities or ceremonial actions at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.

Create drawings on white or colored paper or poster board. Pen and ink, crayons, pastels and or paints may be used; there is no limit on the number of colors used.  Drawings may not be computer enhanced and no cutouts.  SIZE MUST BE 9" X 12"vertical or horizontal.  Drawings are limited to one side only.  Print all the following information on the back upper right hand corner: Student name, Grade, School, Teacher name, teacher phone, teacher email.

Mail or deliver entries directly to: Department of Parks and Recreation Attn: Dan Nakamoto, Kapolei Hale, 1000 Ulu'ohi'a street, Suite 309, Kapolei, HI 96707.  Winners will be selected by a panel of judges on March 11. First, second and third place winners will be chosen in 3 categories: grades K - 4, 5 - 8 and 9 - 12.
