Student Council is passing out collections boxes for our Pennies for Patients drive for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  The collection period will last from Friday, April 6th until Friday, April 13th.  We encourage all students and families to donate coin and paper money for this deserving cause.   As a show of thanks and gratitude the top 5 highest donating classrooms will earn an ice pop party!  It is our goal to reach at least $750.00



Parents of 3rd - 5th graders are invited to 8 workshops on Homework and Organizational Skills --Tuesdays and Fridays at 8:15 in Q building. April 10, 13, 17, 20, 24, 27 & May 1 & 4

     PTO Spring Dance in the cafeteria from 6pm – 8pm. $10 per family ticket.  Dominos pizza available for purchase by the slice. All children must be accompanied by an adult.  Please turn in money with form no later than Wed. April 11.  Dress for a fun dance and stop by selfie station for family photo op.

Community Events

March 3 – April 8 Butterfly Conservatory Mondays to Saturdays from 10am – 9pm and Sundays 10am – 6pm.  The butterflies are coming back to Pearlridge Center this weekend. See the life cycle of these colorful creatures – all raised on local farms – from egg to chrysalis to butterfly, first-hand. Everyone will get to feed a butterfly, and, if you’re really lucky, one will land on you too. Stick around for a craft activity, listen to a storytime with the Hungry Caterpillar or purchase your own Caterpillar Kit to take home.. While you’re at the mall, you can also get photos with the Easter Bunny.

Sun. April 8 .    Wahiawa Lions Clubs hosts its 22nd annual Breakfast fundraiser from 7am - 11am at Ka'ala Elementary school.  The meal includes scrambled eggs, smoked sausages, rice, banana bread, pineapple chunks and a . drink.  Tickts cost $6. at the door. call 808-621-0852

April 13 .    Learn to make a ti leaf lei from 9am - noon at Wahiawa Botanical Garden.  Lei will be placed on graves at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific for Memorial Day.  Pre-registration is required at 808-522-7066
April 14 .    YMCA of Honolulu Healthy Kids Day from 10am - 3pm at Camp Erdman.  Free admission and healthy fun activities for the whole family.  Adventure activities like alpine tower, odyssey high ropes, archery, giant swing, obstacle courses (covered shoes required). swimming pool bring your swimsuit. Crafts, ono food and much more. Age restrictions for some activities.  Pre-register at ymcahonolulu.org

Sat. April 28 .        Ellison Onizuka day of Exploration at Blaisdell Exhibition Hall from 9m - 3pm.  This is Hawaii's Largest STEM event and it is free and open to the public.  Family fun and over 44 hands on science exploration stations brought to you by the Aloha Council, Boy Scouts of America & hundreds of volunteers.

Altino Coding Cars
Coding for the non-coder. Altino Coding Cars for kids and adults. Learn
to code C/C++ in 5 minutes using the latest teaching technology from
South Korea where computer science will become a mandatory subject
starting this year. Recommended for students age 10 and up.


Bristle Bot Racers
Construct a Bristlebot, a fun, exciting robot made of a vibrating cell
phone motor and a toothbrush head. Design and construct a Bristlebot to
go the fastest in a straight line. Compete with other Bristlebots for

Use the engineering design process to explore and learn about kinetic
energy. Use everyday materials including sticks and cups to create chain
reactions that are sure to entertain and amaze. Recommended for students
age 7 and up.

Amuse and amaze your friends with cool chemistry demonstrations and
"magic" using common material that will make you the life of the party!
Recommended for students, ages 9 and up.

Energy UNPLUGGED

Experimental Motors
Build a simple motor and use the engineering design process to test,
re-design, and re-test your prototype. Recommended for students age 11
and up.

Feather Fall Parachute Deployment
Design and build a parachute to safely and accurately land in a hostile
environment to get much needed equipment to our stranded astronauts.
"Bragging rights" for best aim and slowest descent. Learn about
aerodynamics, free fall and air resistance forces.

How science really works! Curiosity + Joy + Dreams + Thrills + Wonder +

experience through hands on, minds on science activities and

Mystery & Intrigue: The Wide World of Electricity
