Pennies for Patients drive for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  The collection period ends Friday, April 13th.  We encourage all students and families to donate coin and paper money for this deserving cause.   As a show of thanks and gratitude the top 5 highest donating classrooms will earn an ice pop party!  

School Events


Fri. April 13              Dress in Camouflage for the month of the military child
         PTO Spring Dance in the cafeteria from 6pm – 8pm. $10 per family ticket.  Every child must be accompanied by an adult. Dominos pizza available for purchase. Dress for a fun dance and stop by selfie station for family photo op.

Mon. April 16           School Community Council Meeting in the office conference room at 3pm

Tues. April 17           Chaperone Training in PCNC corner of front office from 12:00 – 12:30pm

Wed. April 18           Wear your school T shirt every Wednesday to show your school spirit

Thurs. April 19         Project-Based Learning Showcase at 6:00pm in the cafeteria

Fri. April 20              Dress in Red & White & Blue for the month of the military child

Community Events

April 13 .    Learn to make a ti leaf lei from 9am - noon at Wahiawa Botanical Garden.  Lei will be placed on graves at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific for Memorial Day.  Pre-registration is required at 808-522-7066

April 14 .    Trinity Lutheran School in Wahiawa has Treasures for Technology Rummage sale from 8am - 1pm. Browse a wide array of gently used treasures donated by school families. All proceeds benefit Trinity's technology program. 1611 California Avenue call (808) 621-6033 or tls-hawaii.org

April 14 .    YMCA of Honolulu Healthy Kids Day from 10am - 3pm at Camp Erdman.  Free admission and healthy fun activities for the whole family.  Adventure activities like alpine tower, odyssey high ropes, archery, giant swing, obstacle courses (covered shoes required). swimming pool bring your swimsuit. Crafts, ono food and much more. Age restrictions for some activities.  Pre-register at ymcahonolulu.org

April 14 .    Pineapple Eat the Street  at Ka'ala Elementary from 4pm - 9pm. Free street parking and the event is on the school Athletic Field, 130 California ave.  Free Family Fun

April 18 .    Earth Day at Kalakaua Community Center from 2:30pm - 5pm.  Learn about volunteer opportunities to help our Sea Turtles. Many make and take activities, hands on mural painting, live exotic animals, keiki ID fingerprinting. Bring an old tank top and design a one of a kind tote. April 21 .    Leilehua Project Grad Craft Fair from 10am - 2pm in the High School Cafeteria.  Enjoy local grinds, multiple vendors, silent auction, crafts, local entertainers and so much more.  All proceeds support the Project grad 2018 program. April 25 .    Hoku award winning guitarist Lee Eisenstein at the Mililani Public Library gives free concert from 6:00pm - 7:00pm.  Lee Eisenstein is a Spanish classical guitarist, Hawaii slack key guitarist and midi electric guitarist and singer. Performing 400 years of guitar music and popular songs, his love and enthusiasm for music shows at every performance.

Sat. April 28 .    Spam Jam Festival in Waikiki from 4pm - 10pm. Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki shut down for vehicles. Instead filled with many food booths and entertainment. 

Sat. April 28 .        Ellison Onizuka day of Exploration at Blaisdell Exhibition Hall from 9m - 3pm.  This is Hawaii's Largest STEM event and it is free and open to the public.  Family fun and over 44 hands on science exploration stations brought to you by the Aloha Council, Boy Scouts of America & hundreds of volunteers.

Altino Coding Cars
Coding for the non-coder. Altino Coding Cars for kids and adults. Learn
to code C/C++ in 5 minutes using the latest teaching technology from
South Korea where computer science will become a mandatory subject
starting this year. Recommended for students age 10 and up.


Bristle Bot Racers
Construct a Bristlebot, a fun, exciting robot made of a vibrating cell
phone motor and a toothbrush head. Design and construct a Bristlebot to
go the fastest in a straight line. Compete with other Bristlebots for
bragging rights. Recommended for ages 8 and up.

Chain Reactions: Fun with Kinetic Energy
Use the engineering design process to explore and learn about kinetic
energy. Use everyday materials including sticks and cups to create chain
reactions that are sure to entertain and amaze. Recommended for students
age 7 and up.

Cool Chemistry for Everyone
Amuse and amaze your friends with cool chemistry demonstrations and
"magic" using common material that will make you the life of the party!
Recommended for students, ages 9 and up.

Energy UNPLUGGED
Sponsored by Hawaii Energy: Help Hawai'I lead the nation in Energy
Efficiency! Learn how to make money by becoming an "Energy Entrepreneur"
and help reap the benefits of making smart energy choices in your home.
Recommend for students grade 5 and older.

Experimental Motors
Build a simple motor and use the engineering design process to test,
re-design, and re-test your prototype. Recommended for students age 11
and up.

Feather Fall Parachute Deployment
Design and build a parachute to safely and accurately land in a hostile
environment to get much needed equipment to our stranded astronauts.
"Bragging rights" for best aim and slowest descent. Learn about
aerodynamics, free fall and air resistance forces.

FEST (Families Exploring Science Together): Science is Fun!
How science really works! Curiosity + Joy + Dreams + Thrills + Wonder +
Interest +
Surprise + Creativity = Discovery....and it's Fun!! Discover and
experience through hands on, minds on science activities and
demonstrations....surface tension of water, Bernoulli's principle,
Center of Gravity, electricity, density of liquids, rainbows...take home
a wind tube, an energy ball, a balancing stick, diffraction glasses,
preform bottle to continue experimenting. Recommended for students ages
5 to 12.

Hardware Science
Join us for a fun grab bag of hands-on activities! Ordinary objects come

LEGO Master-Building for EARTHQUAKES!
As a LEGO Master-Builder, you will be challenged to design a LEGO tower
to withstand a simulated earthquake event using your own Shake Table,

Mystery & Intrigue: The Wide World of Electricity

electricity. Build a battery storage experiment that should impress your
friends, family and teachers. As always, no previous experience
necessary; just bring your eagerness to participate and learn. In fact,
