Safety Issues and Reminders
We have had several complaints about parents driving
unsafely in the school zone and not cooperating with the Junior Police Officers
and patrol officers. Please remember
that there is a speed limit of 15 mph during school hours so please slow down
in the area around the school. We also
ask that you allow yourself sufficient time to get to school so your child has
time to get to his/her classroom before the tardy bell rings at 7:55. This could minimize some of the traffic
problems we have experienced.
Please remember that all visitors must sign in at the
front office. We will be asking for identification if you are picking up your
child from school before the bell rings. If someone comes to school and
requests to pick up your child, and they are not on your approved list in our
database, we will not release your child without getting in contact with you
first.
At the end of the day, we ask that you refrain from
coming on campus until just before the bell rings. It is disruptive to
classrooms when adults are speaking loudly or little ones are running around.
If you arrive at school and there is still learning time, we encourage you to
wait in the cafeteria or the outdoor pavilion until about 5 minutes before the
bell rings. The teachers and students will appreciate your cooperation with
this.
There have been instances when parents or emergency
contacts need to be called due to a child’s illness or injury, and all of the
numbers on our list are not in service or are not accepting voice mail
messages. Please be sure to update your
list or check at the office to be sure we have the right phone numbers for your
contacts.
