The Big Draw, Thursday, October 27, 2:20-3:30
When the bell rings at 2:10 – help your child change into easy costume (and parents encouraged to wear costumes that express creativity also)    Buy tasty treats from the PTO bake sale! And purchase Jamba Juice smoothies - $5.00 for 16 oz smoothie.  Then register in the cafeteria to get your program and sketch book by 2:30 for short introduction. Looking for 2 volunteers to help with Make Up Picture Day on Nov. 4 from 8am – noon.  You will be picking up students from classes that arrived after picture day in Sept. And students that brought back picture packages to have retakes.  If you can help email Ellen_Petry/INOUYE/

Drama Teacher, Mr. Merriam is casting a play
Auditions for the DKIES Winter Production, Toy of the Year, will be held on October 31 and November 1 from 1-2:30 in the Drama Room. We will be performing on December 16 during the PTO Winter Family Event. This play has 11 speaking parts and room for extra elves so anyone may audition.
You do not need to audition on both days, you may show up at any time between 1:00 - 2:30, and you may leave at any time for Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences.
Audition forms were sent home in the Wednesday Folders on October 26 (Grades 3, 4 and 5). They will also be available in D-1 and the Office. You must have a signed audition form to participate.

Thanks to everyone that donated to the Turkey Trot yesterday. At the end of the day, we collected 1,349 cans, surpassing our goal of 1,200 cans! Great job, everyone!

                                    Come and move with your family to music before school starts
                                    Pre, kindergarten, 1st & 2nd grade parents are invited to sit with their child on covered play court 8:30 – 9:30 to hear enthusiastic author Eric Ode. Learn about his music & the books you can purchase & have personalized via Eric Ode's website:

                  Make Up Picture taking – Bring back your unsatisfactory picture packet and your child will take new picture ALSO students that arrived after Sept. 21 will take pictures for yearbook, ask teacher for picture order forms.

Oct. 28, 29, 30, 31        Scare Hawaii presents a Haunted House in Windward Mall at old Sports Authority. 7pm – 10pm. Admission $15. Or $25 Fastpass in Kaneohe.

Oct. 28      Tropics features Painting a picture with an experienced artist while sipping the beverage of your choice. $35 per person non refundable includes all supplies and a select choice of drinks. Please arrive early to purchase your drinks and food. Class starts promptly at 7pm.  Pre-registration is required - visit Tropics or call 655-5698

Oct. 29      Mililani Public Library invites students in grades K – 6 to stop by and make a cat-themed craft from 10am – noon.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.  Call 627-7470

Oct. 29      Wahiawa Library sponsors a LEGO makerspace session at 9:30am. Cal 622-6346

Oct. 29      Wahiawa Halloween free keiki fest will take place from 10am – 1pm in Longs Drugs parking lot at Wahiawa Town Center.  Many Games, keiki rides and crafts. A magic show is set for 10:30am followed by a costume contest at noon. Call 221-2774

Sun, Oct. 30         9am to 3pm Working with Waimea Valley Hiʻipaka LLC on a native forest restoration project. This is a hike up to Kalaheʻe Ridge (approximately 45 minute hike) to plant native plants and remove invasive species. Meet at Waimea Valley Botanical Office at 9am 59-864 Kamehameha Hwy RSVP to Hye Jung at as soon as you can commit.
What to bring? 
Water (at least 2 liters) , Lunch , Gloves , Rain gear (if you have) , Insect Repellent (just for the hike up) , Closed toed shoes , Sunscreen , Hat , Long pants , Long sleeved shirt , Positive attitude

Oct. 31      Zumba class and party in costume 9am at Kaena Community Center. Zumba to Halloween music then share in potluck and fun after hour long class. Thank you for bringing food to share. Spooky decor and lights. Costume contest, goody bags for first 50.

Oct. 31      Fang-tastic Mililani Shopping Center hosts center-wide trick or treating and a Halloween costume contest from 5pm – 7pm.

Oct. 31      Schofield Barracks Youth Center features Fright Night Dance and costume contest from 6pm – 9pm for Grades 6th – 12th.  Featured activities: Haunted house, photo booth, pizza party, candy giveaways.  $5. Nov. 4              Mililani 1st Friday at Mililani High School. Over 3 dozen vendors and over half are food trucks. Bring your family and friends to dinner from 4pm – 8pm. Call 307-4323

Nov. 5              Wheeler Middle School Holiday Bazaar from 9am – 2pm
