Eat, Play, Build family event on Friday, September 30, 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Build a cardboard challenge game, shop the book fair, eat a hot dog dinner by the PTO & create at our STEM stations! Build a tinfoil boat, will it float? Create a catapult and try it out.  Families who bring their own cardboard challenge games to be played will be entered to win gift cards from the Children's Community Council.

Donations needed for Cardboard Challenge:  masking tape, scotch tape, dice, bouncy balls, plastic spoons, tinfoil.  Cleaning out your game cupboard?  We'll take any games too!  Drop off at the office labeled for Library.

Even though it seems empty, DO NOT WALK on new blacktop.  It needs to set before having stripes painted on it.  For the safety of adults and children, please heed the direction from the school faculty and staff.

Sat. Oct. 1          ‘Food for thought’ at Waialua High School cafeteria from 10am – 2pm. Cooking demonstrations, exhibitions, activities to explain concepts of farming and the community.  waialuaculinary@gmail.com

Sat. Oct. 1          Rocktoberfest at Weyand Field on Schofield from 4pm – 10pm. Annual Rocktoberfest is a blend of German culture and American Rock and Roll featuring live bands, food, specialty beverages for sale, competitions and children’s activities.  Competitions will include individual events like the keg barrel roll and the Mr. And Ms. Rocktoberfest contest which has contestants compete in 4 events to win the title. Sat. Oct. 1          Hawaiian Humane Society offers free foster care training from 9am – 10am. Learn to help Hawaii’s orphaned animals by becoming a foster care provider. Pre-registration required. (808) 356-2222. Location is in Honolulu at 2700 Waialae Avenue

Sat. Oct. 1          Pearlridge Center Uptown Center court has Canstruction Competition from 9am – 1pm for free. 9 teams of local architects, builders, and design and engineering professionals will “canstruct” giant structures from cans of food. The public can vote for their favorites with donated cans of their own. All donations go to Hawaii Foodbank. Aiahonolulu.org

Oct. 1 & 2   Honolulu Intertribal Powwow heralds Native American culture from 10am – 5pm on Magic Island in Ala Moana Beach Park. There’ll be plenty of dancing, drumming, singing and more. Plus crafts and other activities. Honoluluintertribalpowwow.com

Sun. Oct. 2         23^rd annual Hawaii Children & Youth Day at the state capital and surrounding capital district from 10am – 3pm.  Local entertainment, space exploration, fun and educational activities for the entire family. Accepting clothes donations to support event.  Iolani Palace Cultural activities tours from 10am – 3pm. Free admission to Iolani Palace state rooms followed by a self-guided exploration of the galleries.  Hawaii State Art Museum activities and tours from 10am – 3pm. Entertainment on the front lawn, tours in the art galleries and hands-on activities for all ages.

Tues. Oct. 4        Coloring for adults at Sgt. Yano Library on Schofield. 6:15pm – 7:30pm.  For adults looking for a new activity that will bring stress relief to your busy life.  Coloring generates wellness, quietness and also stimulates the brain areas related to motor skills, the senses and creativity.  Coloring sheets, color pencils, gel pens will be provided as well as tea and cookies. Oct. 7              Command Golf Scramble at Leilehua Golf Course. 12 noon shotgun start. Check in is 10am – 11:30am. Cost is $50 per player, sign up as a team or individually.
